Asian Cultural Learning
If you know Cantonese, you know that the title phrase of the book has a certain negative connotation that comes with it.. But, it’s probably not what you think it is. It is in fact a pamphlet from 1965 teaching people of the great Republic China how to shoot down air planes. Or, “How To Shoot Airplanes.” Try asking your Cantonese friend (preferably a guy) how to say “how to shoot airplane” in Cantonese and you’ll understand the ironic humor in this piece. Of course there’s also culture reflection and all that…
Speaking of cultural reflection, we can’t leave out our glorious rising Sun of the East: Japan. Technologically advanced, culturally dominant, and extremely weird! Do take notes from their latest Wii warned ya manual. Don’t say wii didn’t warn ya!
